One of the best things about homeschooling is that learning can happen anywhere. Some ways we like to learn outside of books and worksheets are exploring in nature, trips to the museum or science center, and getting together with other homeschool families at our local park! If you’re looking to add some fun to your week, plus education, then i think you should definitely check out these places in the Upstate South Carolina!

Address: 2345 S Pine St Spartanburg, SC 29302

Roller skating is a great way to exercise and socialize with other homeschool kids! Hot Wheels has lots to offer: pizza, snacks, good music, and they even do games in the middle of the floor! They don’t have specific homeschool skating hours, though on Wednesdays they are open from 12-2 PM.

Address: 150 Cleveland Park Dr Greenville, SC 29601

The Greenville Zoo offers opportunities to learn about animals, habitats, and wildlife! They do homeschool days where you can enjoy a discounted admission rate for the whole day. They also have fun scheduled activities such as guided tours and educational programs that include engaging lessons and an animal encounter.

Address: 1054 E Butler Rd Greenville, SC 29607

Bricks & Minifigs has free homeschool days Tuesday - Wednesdays from noon - 3 PM where your group can enjoy bulk LEGO tables and a wide variety of pieces! This encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and social time. Advance reservations are recommended.

Address: 540 Buncombe St Greenville, SC 29601

The Upcountry History Museum is a great place to keep things fun and educational! Children can see artifacts, explore exhibits, and much more. Homeschool days meet on the fourth Friday of each month at 10 AM, it includes hands-on activities, a guided experience in one of the galleries, and all day admission.

Address: 301 Bulls Rd Taylors, SC 29687

This is great for physical education and confidence building! Homeschool climbing events are every second and fourth Monday from 2 - 4 PM. You can enjoy climbing for hours when the gym is not usually open. $12 per climber, with a harness rental included.

Finding Your Homeschool Community

Homeschooling doesn’t have to mean doing it all alone, it can also mean finding community along the way. Sometimes the most valuable opportunity isn’t discounts or free classes, it’s getting out into your community, meeting other homeschool families, and making lasting memories.
