Finding Your Purr-fect Companion: A Guide to Cat Adoption & Care
Written by Noel

The first thing I heard was the sound of a sweet kitten, then I saw an adorable grey and white cat. As I walked into the Spartanburg Humane Society (SHS), I noticed lots of fluffy kittens snoozing in their little glass cages, waiting for a home.
"I like trying to work with the ones that are a little shy," said Matthew, who works with the
cats at the shelter,
"and trying to make them feel a little less afraid of being here."

To bring home an adorable cat, the first thing to do is to make your home ready, this includes: toys, a scratching post, a bed, a litter box, food and water. And, don't forget to find a good vet!
"So you can come in and visit with any cat you would like, right now I think we have about seventy or so available for adoption," said Matthew. You can choose a cat you like, and the employees will take you to a little room outside the cat's cage, where you and the cat can get used to each other. If the cat likes you, and you like the cat, you can sign some papers and take your cat home.
