We believe that regular opportunities for consistent relational development,
are an integral part of a thriving homeschool community.

Pods & clubs may be free,
or have small fees.

HCU Beta Club

Location: Eastside Baptist Church

Meeting: 12:30- 1pm, every 1st and 3rd Thursday.

 

Age: 9th-12th grade

Cost: $32

Student Newspaper / Journalism Club

Location: Westside of Spartanburg

Meeting: 11AM, 1 Friday a month.

Age: 8 & up

Be a reporter, editor, photojournalist, or video journalist! And, gain some valuable experience, and extracurricular involvement to build on for future higher education plans.

​

We meet once a month to finalize the online newspaper issue, discuss new assignments, and learn about journalism.

Students will work on their written, photo, or video report, on the topic they have chosen, independently, and upload their work prior to the monthly meeting.

American Girl History Pod

Location: Simpsonville

Meeting: 2nd & 4th Mondays, 2-3:30pm, August 24 - May 24.

Age: 8-12

​

Bach session we dig into a different historical era through the original American Girl characters, in chronological order, starting with Kaya in 1764 and closing out Year 1 with Rebecca in 1914. Every single meeting has a hands on activity to go with it, plus real history, map work, and discussion tied to whatever book we're reading.
 

COST: $50 per semester, includes crafts & snacks

Mauldin Park Meet-up

Meetup group that allows our kids an opportunity to regularly play with and form friendships with other homeschoolers. Low-key group. No leadership requirements. Come and play!

Happy Homeschoolers Pod

Location: Tyger River Park

Meeting: Every 2nd and 4th Thursday

 

Age: all ages

 

A social meet-up every 2nd & 4th Thursday at 2:30pm at Tyger River Park. We meet to encourage each other in homeschooling & life, and to have relationship building experiences for our children, in an intentionally positive & kind environment.

Career & Community Helpers Pod

Club full, waitlist available.

Join us for a small group pod that will explore careers and our community. We plan field trips, service projects, events, and play dates. The goal is to have a consistent group of kids participate to make friends and develop relationships as we learn and explore!

​

Schedule: 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, afternoons

Age: Any Age

Cost: No cost unless a field trip requires payment

​

Requirements: We ask that you commit to attending events so the kids can get to know each other and to respect the time of volunteers and venues that will be hosting us. Preference is given to HCU Member group and Simpsonville area residents. Members must commit to attending events, members need to help organize an event or playdate.
