About the event

This is an IMMERSIVE science experience in the form of a realistic space mission!!

**** This mission is for the middle school grade levels (high schoolers may attend as well).**** Science used is around 8th grade, though roles have varying difficulties - material will be provided for parent review prior to role assignments.

Kids take over the roles of astronauts & mission control teams in sets that look and feel like actually being IN A SPACE STATION (sans the weightlessness) & MISSION CONTROL!

This is WORTH taking the day off from co-op (or inviting your co-op to sign-up to go with us), & booking a babysitter for the littlest! We will have a whole day of it, with the space mission, lunch (not included), a flight lesson & simulator, & a lesson and hands-on project on telescopes!

Letting y'all know so far in advance, to be able to plan for this out of town day. There will also be mission based material distributed shortly, for incorporating into your schoolwork, if you so choose.

- - - The Rendezvous with a Comet mission is for around 8th grade & up. Mission description: "A team of scientists and engineers are on a daring mission to take an up-close look at comets and asteroids as they orbit our solar system. Their goal is to plot an intercept course to rendezvous with a comet or asteroid and to launch a probe they’ve constructed to collect scientific data from the object."

- - - COST

$25 per child $10 per participating adult*

Payment Schedule:

$5.00: Deposit per person is required to reserve a spot.

Balance: Due by August 19. (please note, this balance is still required if you cancel, but can't find someone to take your spot).

Paypal to CarrieAllie@aol.com, or Venmo to @Caroline-Knepper-1

Cancellation Policy: • Full refund may be available at any time where there is someone on the waitlist who can take your spot(s), if not we can only refund if we don't drop below the minimum number for a class.   • They are also still waiting for confirmation they'll be able to host groups from outside the Columbia districts for 2022, but they believe they will. If they are still under restriction, everything will be refunded, and we will try to book again at a later date.

*Trying to limit the number of adults overall, because each adult replaces a spot a child could have on the team, depending upon the number of kids that sign-up, we may cap the adults at as little as 8.  If we have extra room, will add adult spaces.

What's included in the cost: • Space Mission (1 1/2 hours) • Aerospace Education Laboratory Flight Class & Simulator • Hands on Science Project: Telescopes

As always, if cost is prohibitive for you, please reach out. We may not always be able to help, but we can sometimes.

P.S. If you want to bring your kids that are in other age groups, and have another adult with you, they could always go to Edventure (https://www.edventure.org) while the space mission is going on, and meet-up after.
