About the event

Travel back in time to the Carolina Backcountry and learn about life in the Colonies and the Revolution. Walnut Grove Plantation is the oldest home in Spartanburg County, built in 1765. On this trip, you will have a guided tour of the home and a fun living history activity.  Students will learn how to make butter and have a taste. This activity will work for most ages.  Younger students will need help because the churning is hard work.  Older students will learn a lot from this lesson. After your tour and lesson, we will enjoy a picnic lunch.  Then, you are free to explore the grounds and the gift shop on your own.  The grounds include the original well and dry cellar, as well as a nature trail and cemetary.

The cost of this trip is $5 for adults and $6 for students, plus site fee. 2 and under are…
