The Sound and Music of Bamboo

In this class, we will explore the sounds we can make with bamboo. We  will use bamboo as percussion and wind instruments and create our own  “Bamboo band!” We will listen to the sounds of a live shakuhachi flute  and identify the sound of bamboo in popular music. We will record our  own bamboo song and listen to it over the loud speaker to celebrate our  music together.

Note:  All parents must remain on site during the class. No Drop-offs! Parents are responsible for the safety and behavior of their children at all times.

Additional Details: Shelter #1 has a wood-burning fireplace. Please do not allow your children to throw leaves or other un-natural materials into the fire. We will use this fire for the presentation. This shelter also has easy access to parking, restrooms and a playground area with a tire swing for younger siblings. Please keep an eye on your children at all times! We are not responsible for the safety and behavior of your children.

Cost: $20 per participating person plus site fee ($0.50) and Croft State Park Admission Fee (See the end of this event description).

See the "Events" section for our "Kids Love Bamboo!" class, which will take place on the same day, at the same Croft State Park shelter!  Each class requires a separate ticket. You may want to pack a lunch for in between classes.  There are picnic tables available.

Additional Cost: Croft State Park is over 7000 acres and offers everything from a playground to hiking and biking trails. As a state park, there is an admission fee: $3 for adults over the age of 15, $1.50 for seniors, $1 for kids ages 6-15, and free for children age 5 and under.
