Mushroom Mountain Farm Tour

Starting with the life cycles and ecology of fungi, the tour winds through the laboratory and fruiting room spaces of the farm, where visitors will be able to see and hear about the entire process of spawn production and mushroom cultivation. Myco-remediation to soil creation will be discussed along the way as well!

There is also a mushroom trail, where mushrooms periodically fruit. Some are planted and some are wild, but whatever is fruiting at the time, you will get to experience it. You will leave Mushroom Mountain with a newfound knowledge on all mushroom fronts. 

After the tour, visit their store for books, spawn and other mushroom gifts. There is also a wonderful picnic area to enjoy your lunch before or after the tour.

Considerations:

*Ideal ages for 11:00am tour is up to 3rd grade equivalent, while the 2:00pm tour is better suited for older kids.

*There is a maximum on each tour of 30 participants.

*The staff asks that only parents/guardians/teachers accompany kids on these special tours (i.e., please don't bring grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, or friends who might be interested in mushrooms as they have separate public and private tours for adults.)

*Tours last about 60-90 minutes, depending on the size and participation of the group. 

Cost: $5/person. Children under the age of 4 are not charged, but do count toward the total number allowed on each tour and are asked to stay with their parents or guardians at all times (and be able to quietly observe/follow along).
