About the event
This field trip is led by Hatcher Garden's Education Guides. Â Students will learn about Native Americans in Upstate South Carolina, their lifestyles, transportation, housing, food, and crafts, and observe various native species that were important to our native people. Â Â Roughly an hour. Â Free play/exploration after staff led portion. Â Feel free to pack a picnic lunch, there are numerous areas to eat together.
Open to all ages, but may want to make sure you feel your kids are old enough to get something from it. Â I imagine most school age students will.
When we arrive we will meet as a big group, then they will divide us up into 15-20 students in a group (plus parents & babies) per education guide. Â To keep this as simple as possible (since I will have a newborn with me), at that time if you'd like to be in a group with someone you know well, or you'd like to group some of the older students together, please divide up that way. Â
COST
$5 per student
Parents are free, as are babies & toddlers that need to attend because an older sibling is a paying student.
$1.50 Optional Patch: https://www.snappylogos.com/Native-American-Culture/productinfo/8204/
Please remember that low cost events like this DO cost the venue, & often cost them more than they charge. Â Because of this no shows on low cost events can effect our relationship with a venue, & their relationship with homeschoolers in general (since they plan materials & staffing for the number of students we register). Â Please consider whether or not you can attend (barring emergencies) BEFORE registering. Â Since low cost (or free events) have this issue, and often incur a much higher percentage of no shows, a pattern of not showing up can make it so your family is not able to register for events for awhile.
