About the event

Date: Saturday, May 25, 2024 Location: Falls Family Farms Address: 2954 Forbes Rd., Gastonia NC 28056 Time: 12:00 PM-1:00 PM Cost: $25 per participant (Ages 10+) Description: Bambrooms! (Primitive Broom Making) Learn  how to make a primitive broom using a whole bamboo cane and its  branches. You will learn how to easily cut branches from the cane,  leaving no “catchy-grabby stubs” behind! We will learn a basic wrapping  and binding technique used by ancient cultures. Decorate your broom with  provided ribbons and embellishments. Create a unique broom that is both  useful and decorative. You’ll be swept away with how easy it is! IMPORTANT:  We will use our upper thighs to hold the bamboo branches. It is  recommended that class participants wear full-length pants, long skirts,  an apron or capri pants (Shorts are not recommended).  Some people have a slight, itchy allergic-reaction to bamboo, which is  technically a grass. It is recommended that you cover your legs to  protect against the possibility that your skin may not interact well  with bamboo leaves. What to bring: Please bring your own chair and water bottle. Snacks and refreshments will also be available for sale at the Falls Family Farm Store.

All parents of minors must remain on site during the class.  No Drop-offs! Parents are responsible for the safety and behavior of their children at all times.

Falls Family Farms has  a BEAUTIFUL space to explore! The farm has a Plant shop and general  farm store and is a flower and vegetable farm. There are multiple areas  of the farm to explore and enjoy. Ducks, chickens, goats and cows also  live at the farm and hope you will visit them too! Visit and follow Falls Family Farms on Facebook!
